Honestly i cant play singleplayer without it anymore, it changes the game entirely though as the npc survivors go around looting what they need, even setting up their own bases, claiming houses and barricading. They affect performance heavily since they go around migrating zombies, killing them and each other as soon as they spawn in.

Imo it's worth at least 1-2 hrs to give it a shot, just to try the new things (warning: You'll need to relearn how to play, especially how to fight).
